Privacy & Cookies

Japan Annotations is an independent online archive of short stories about Japanese art, history and everyday life. You can browse the public archive without creating an account.

Website services

Our website uses Wix for hosting and content management. Essential technologies are used to make the website work, maintain security and remember necessary preferences.

Optional analytics

Optional analytics are off by default. If you consent, we may measure page visits, outbound link clicks to Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Etsy, Patreon and Buy Me a Coffee, and requests to open YouTube videos within the website. These events help us understand which stories attract interest and which external destinations people explore. A link click is not confirmation of a follow, video view or purchase. Optional analytics may involve Wix and analytics services we connect. We do not intentionally include personal identifiers in custom click events.

You can refuse optional analytics and continue browsing. You can also change your choice using Cookie choices in the website footer. A change may take effect after the page refreshes.

Embedded videos and external links

Videos are hosted by YouTube. The embedded player is loaded when you choose to play a video. YouTube may process information under its own privacy policy. Links to Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Etsy, Patreon, Buy Me a Coffee and other external services lead to websites with their own privacy practices.
